What is The Change Roadmap Platform?
The Change Roadmap platform is a framework, process and tool for change management, all in one. This innovative solution provides a practical and flexible mechanism for managing the people side of change on organisational initiatives. It combines a comprehensive, underpinning, people-centred framework with a guiding, flexible process to bring it to action, whilst utilizing a web-based software tool to manage all the data. The tool captures real-time data in the context of the process, replacing inefficient templates, whilst creating key views to facilitate informed change management decisions and actions. The Change Roadmap platform serves as a powerful vehicle for managing any organisational change.
The Change Roadmap framework is the foundation and has a simple to understand structure at its heart: Articulate the ‘Why’ (background and vision), determine the ‘What’ (impacts), understand the ‘Who’ (stakeholders) and formulate the ‘How’ (enabling actions). The ‘Who’ sits at the centre of the framework reflecting the people centred approach and true focus of change management.
The beauty of The Change Roadmap is you can still bring aspects of other frameworks, models and methodologies, or what we term “change thinking”, into your approach. Striking the perfect balance between structure for guidance and flexibility in application, it makes for a comprehensive, convenient, efficient and effective platform for managing the people side of any business change.

Who should use The Change Roadmap?
Managers
Frontline managers of teams, right up to senior managers, are expected to make continual improvements to their area of responsibility. The Change Roadmap provides a welcome guiding framework, process and tool for them to manage the people change. Managers can still call on change specialists for expertise but have the necessary platform to be in control and understand the journey.
The ‘accidental change manager’ or new to change
If you find yourself in either situation, The Change Roadmap will be invaluable to you. A guiding framework, the process and tool to run it, all in one. The tool is quite intuitive, but instructor led short sessions as well as full change management training if needed, mean you will be supported in getting up to speed.
Experienced practitioners of change management
This may be what you have been looking for. A flexible framework that allows you to bring your own knowledge, expertise and preferred approaches whilst providing the vehicle to manage the change. A platform that manages your data capture and its presentation. One that provides analysis and reporting, promoting better decision making, efficiency and effectiveness. A platform that aligns well with project structures and methods and is specifically designed to be practical.
Project Managers, Business Analysts, Business Improvement Practitioners, Business Representatives
On change initiatives there is not always the luxury of having the change management resource needed. Budgets or levels of maturity may dictate that other roles are asked to perform the role and just expected to know how. The Change Roadmap will become your friend.
Why would I use it?
The combination of framework, process and tool all bundled seamlessly into one solution for practical change management.
- Flexible framework. Doesn’t constrain you into overly structured methodology. The framework allows you to apply aspects of other models, frameworks, methodologies, theories and approaches within it.
- Guides you through the key steps of change management and provides the vehicle for data capture along the way in an efficient manner. No need for multiple templates that become cumbersome when analysing and correlating data across them. Data only needs to be entered once and is presented real-time as the source of truth. The process allows back and forth between the steps to update as required.
- Large or complex stakeholder scenarios are simplified through the structured views. Heat indicators do the analysis for you and point you to where your attention needs to be.
- High level and detailed real time reports. The Change Roadmap presents the data in easily accessed views that provide helpful analysis through heat indicators, as well as creating the more traditional documents such as the Change Management Plan. If you want to save a report at any point in time, you just print to PDF and save it to your document repository.
- Organisational Stakeholder Impacts Heat Map. This report gives the invaluable view of when key change impacts to stakeholders are expected to occur, across all active initiatives in the Organisation. So a portfolio level view of impacted stakeholders and the timing can be obtained.
- Designed to align to the project lifecycle and standard project practices including iterative (e.g. Agile) approaches. Enables the Change Manager to work in alignment with the Project Manager.
- With Change Stakeholder access, it allows stakeholders a real-time view to keep in the loop if desired. Reduces time consuming communication or reporting for the change manager.
- It allows you to link relevant, cloud stored documents to your initiative, becoming the central window to all relevant change documents for your initiative.
What does The Change Roadmap NOT do?
- It is not a document management system. The Change Roadmap reduces the need for documentation by providing real-time views. We also don’t want to complicate by adding another document management system when most organisations already have one.
- It is not a project or portfolio management tool. Let’s not try and be everything and confuse things. We’ll leave the project management to project management and provide the change management mechanism to align with it. Some cool reporting across the change initiatives provides focus on the change management element of your project portfolio. Thereby complimenting your project and portfolio management.
- It is not a major data analytics tool. The Change Roadmap is about providing a guiding framework, process and tool for the practical application of change management. It is designed to be practical and instigate action. So we don’t produce lots of pie charts and bar graphs that could lead to analysis paralysis, but you do get key views and reports to aid decisions and actions.
- It does not have technical integrations with other applications. The Change Roadmap wants to focus on change management and not introduce more security challenges. In the future we’ll consider what might be a benefit without compromising its main focus.

The Change Roadmap Framework
The Change Roadmap is first and foremost, a framework. It is the foundation of the overall Change Roadmap platform. It depicts the components that make up change management under The Change Roadmap, shown in the one context. It uses a simple “Why, What, Who and How” terminology to explain central components. The ‘Who’ sits at the centre of the framework reflecting the people centred approach and true focus of change management. All the components work together to enable a successful change management journey for the initiative. The Change Roadmap process and tool will use these components to drive the application of change management on an initiative. The Change Roadmap Process and Tool
The Change Roadmap platform brings the framework to life by applying a process and enables it through a software tool. The process facilitates the steps required to firstly formulate a plan in Discover and Design, then continues in Prepare and Embed phases to monitor, manage and adjust your plan when necessary. The process starts when a change initiative is instigated and finishes when adoption for that initiative is complete. A user can apply it going back and forth capturing relevant and increasing detail of data under each step as it becomes available, then updating during the initiative as needed. This provides real time data and reports that reflect the real time status of the initiative. It creates key change management planning documents and visual reports that support and drive the practical application of change management decisions and actions. Documents and reports update automatically when new or changed data is entered.
The process is designed to capture both high-level data at an overall initiative level (all stakeholders as one) as well as the detailed level where data is applied for each specific stakeholder. This is to align with a project or initiative context. Formal projects running to a standard project lifecycle usually require a proposal or business case in their initiation, where a change management strategy may be an input. Hence the high-level view of the change management can be created. Later, the detailed change management planning is required, hence passing through the process in the stakeholder detail. Each step of the process applies one or more components from The Change Roadmap framework. The framework and process work together to form a flexible methodology.
The tool is the enabler of it all. A secure web-based software tool that guides the process and captures the data. By using a digital tool it allows far greater efficiency in that data need only be entered once unlike traditional templates which duplicate data entry from template to template. Also once captured, the power of a software tool means it can provide automated reporting which saves enormous time and effort for a change manager. The Change Roadmap tool has been designed to be visual and enable the presentation of complex data in a more manageable way.
